SLOVAKIA SLOWLY

Our first big trip was Scotland to Sicily by Transalp (featured in MSL, June/July 2017), paying special attention to regional food specialities. This time we decided on a different sort of challenge – a tour of our home country of Slovakia by Vespa 50. We had bought ‘Snowball’ back in 2011, the unwanted prize of a competition winner. Her top speed on the flat would be around 40mph, but hill climbing would be more challenging, though on the positive side parking would be easy. Our friends Roman (Honda MTX125) and Matus (1969 Jawa 250 Sport) came with us, but given the Vespa’s supersonic speed, we took our intercom so we didn’t lose touch with them.
