A matter of perspective

In the Zeiss Batis Distagon T* 40mm f/2 CF (AP 23 February) lens test, Andy Westlake describes lenses of 40mm focal length as ‘bringing an extremely natural perspective' on full-frame 35mm. Ultimately, perspective may be a matter of personal taste, but readers might like to conduct their own experiments. Recently, I've found that the 85mm focal length produces some very pleasing landscapes, in spite of being regularly dismissed as a ‘portrait' lens. Peter McKenzie
