WASHINGTON - Former Vice President Joe Biden, working to push past controversy dogging his presidential campaign-in-waiting, spoke to a friendly union audience Friday and tried to use humor to deflect criticism of his hands-on approach to politicking.
After being introduced by union President Lonnie Stephenson, Biden joked, "I want you to know I had permission to hug Lonnie."
