Arriving in Angola, I had no idea what to expect. An oil-rich country must have good roads, I thought. I wasn’t wrong, but nothing could have prepared me for how strange this leg was going to be.
After sleeping in the port of Soyo, I woke to the sound of an approaching bike... a big bike! The first Id seen since Liberia. It was not what I expected; a 2016 Kawasaki Versys with a Chinese registration!
Riding it was Freeman, a 28-year-old who seemed as happy to see me as I did him. He had spent the last seven months riding solo from China to Angola and was now pressing on to Cape Town, his final destination, as his wife had just given birth to their first child.
