Jim Delany made the Big Ten bigger and richer over the last 30 years, which for many is the very definition of success.
The conference probably will name something for him or erect a statue when the retirement Delany announced this week takes effect in mid-2020.
But before everyone burnishes a legacy already seemingly dipped in gold, there should be a full accounting of the good, the bad and the opportunities taken and missed.
One thing is for sure: The Big Ten that Delany leaves won't be
