Behind Jon Lester, Cubs rotation looks to rebound after 2018's inconsistencies

MESA, Ariz. - After leading the majors in starting pitching during their championship season in 2016, the Cubs dropped to seventh in 2017 and 10th last season.

While it wasn't as much of a concern in 2018 as was the vanishing offense, the rotation depth was lacking due to the injury and inconsistency of Yu Darvish combined with Tyler Chatwood's lost season.

But Chatwood has been demoted to a still-to-be-determined role, Darvish insisted Sunday he has the "best stuff" of his career,
