400 MILES with a TT WINNER
When was the last time you rode for more than an hour and didn't encounter a car, or a traffic light, or a roundabout, or a dual carriageway, or roadworks, or a speed camera?
Sounds like pure fantasy, right? Every biker's dream of paradise. But this place exists. It's called Galloway and it's right here in the UK – in south-west Scotland, to be precise.
Never heard of it? That's the point - few people have. That's why it's the last great undiscovered part of the UK and why it provides the best riding experience to be had anywhere in the British Isles.
That's a big boast, but it's one I can back-up. In 22 years as a professional rider, I've ridden everywhere, from the Highlands of Scotland to France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Holland – hell, even Thailand. But I've NEVER had a better two days’ riding than I did with triple TT winner and five-times British champion Ian Simpson, who has just set up a bike tour company called Adventure Moto Scotland.

Every kind of road, from fast, billiard-table smooth A roads to single-track roads with fresh new surfaces (completely devoid of the potholes caused by heavy freight) to gravel-strewn unclassified roads and even off-road forest trails, Galloway has the lot. And boy does it have scenery too: from castles, lochs, mountains, moorland and rivers to picturesque fishing villages – all completely unspoiled by tourism.
