Some key numbers had me baffled. For starters the CRF450L only makes a modest 25bhp. With minor service intervals at just 600 miles, plus a relatively heady price tag of £9500, things didn’t seem to add up. That price tag and frequency of maintenance suggests it’s a full-on enduro bike, rather than one designed more for just exploring green lanes. But with the vast majority of those more focused 450cc machines making around double the Honda’s weedy-sounding power, surely that couldn’t be the case either. Just what was the CRF all about I wondered.
