In the space of a few hours last month, Paradise became Hell. The pleasant community of 26,000 in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada found itself in the path of a raging wildfire that sent residents fleeing in terror. By the time it was over, the Camp Fire had destroyed thousands of homes in the vicinity and killed at least 86 people.
