CHICAGO - The gunman who killed a Chicago police officer, an emergency room doctor and a pharmacist during this week's shooting at Mercy Hospital & Medical Center fired about 40 shots before dying in a shootout with a SWAT officer, authorities disclosed Wednesday.
Juan Lopez was carrying "multiple magazines" for his 9 mm Glock 17 handgun during the Monday afternoon shooting, said police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
