Hornby looks to the future

WELL before the real units carried their first passengers, Hornby announced its intention to offer a ‘OO’ gauge version of the Class 800/0 InterCity Express Train (IET) at the 2016 Warley show. These models are now available from Hornby stockists as a Great Western green five-car pack along with a two-car set in Hitachi Rail Europe colours.

The GWR set depicts No. 800004, which was the first to be vinyled into green during June 2016 for its naming the same month as (R3514, RRP £393.99). Despite the livery, this unit has yet to enter passenger service and is still regularly employed as one of Hitachi’s development sets.
