NO/15 MOBILE CONNECTIONS

“These are all storyboards; all the events here take place in one night,” says Dada Khanyisa, referring to their three-dimensional artworks on display at the Stevenson gallery in Cape Town.“The show revolves around the smartphone. Everything that happens revolves around its use.”

Dada moved to Cape Town six years ago after completing a course in animation in Johannesburg. “Animation taught me a lot about the craft. I could sculpt three-dimensionally; I understood motion and giving doesn’t look like . So I came here to study fine art at Michaelis with that in mind, and it has helped me to create a home and context for my characters.”
