It’s hard not to fall asleep during a massage under the fare at Le Méridien Ile des Pins. The waters of Oro Bay lap at the shore of my private peninsula, the breeze plays with the ribboned curtains that shield me from the resort’s almost-empty beach and I don’t think I’ve ever been more relaxed.
The whole day is spent swimming, snorkelling and wandering beaches. After breakfast, I follow a sunlightdappled path gnarled with of Oro, my private aquarium as I snorkel through the coral reef, is enough to understand how the former penal colony earned a reputation as or ‘the island closest to Paradise’
