Balancing act

Q I’m still confused by white balance and Kelvin. I shoot Auto WB all of the time, but should I set it manually?

A There is a good argument for setting a custom white balance, Roger, because that would certainly make the colour temperature for each light situation you are shooting in much more accurate. But while creating a custom white balance is relatively straightforward, it’s not always practical in every shooting situation.

I’d suggest you opt for a halfway house when you don’t have time to work out the white balance manually. Instead of just using your camera’s Auto
