Hamas hails West Bank protests in solidarity with Gaza

Head of Hamas’ Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh has hailed the West Bank protests which called on Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas to end the punitive measures he has imposed on Gaza, Felesteen.ps reported.

In a televised speech, Haniyeh also called for restructuring Palestinian political bodies by creating a Palestinian National Council, preparing for general elections and forming a national unity government.

The top Hamas leader stressed that his movement is “committed” to Palestinian unity as it enables the Palestinians to undermine “all the dangerous challenges” which are aimed to liquidate the issues of Jerusalem, refugees and the other Palestinian principles.

“The West Bank supported our steadfast political pathway, rejected the starvation of Palestinians in Gaza, called for ending the punitive measures imposed on them and stressed on ending the security cooperation with the occupation.”

Haniyeh expressed his deep concerns about the crackdown on the protesters who took to the streets in solidarity with their brothers in Gaza, calling for such protests to continue “not only for ending the oppression in Gaza, but to correct the national track”.
