Loyola coach Porter Moser 'went out of his way' to land Clayton Custer

SAN ANTONIO - Loyola coach Porter Moser had a little more than 24 hours to land his targeted point guard.

Clayton Custer had been granted his request for a release of scholarship from Iowa State shortly before a window closed when the NCAA permits college coaches to contact recruits. Moser had to work fast.

He drove to Ames, Iowa, to meet with Custer for lunch at the most famous restaurant in the college town.

"I saw the passion in his eyes," Custer said. "I instantly started believing in him."
