WORK EXPERIENCE

Source: Maarten Mellemans (pictured centre) has given up his home so that he can travel the world and stay with clients while he photographs their projects, from weddings to package shots.

MAARTEN Mellemans is a 30-year-old photographer from Belgium who’s an engineer and architect by trade. “As a photographer, I’m completely self-taught, which I did by reading blogs and taking lots of pictures,” he says. “It’s a visual field, so that’s how I got into it.”

Maarten’s interest in photography has ultimately led him in an unusual direction: for his project ‘Fools With Dreams’, he travels the world producing photo shoots for clients – except Maarten doesn’t charge money. His fee is that each client provides accommodation, food and travel to their location. He now lives on the road permanently after giving up his apartment and most of his possessions.
