U.S. Coal Mine Deaths Rise After Record-Low 2016

The Mine Safety and Health Administration says 15 workplace deaths occurred in 2017 after only nine the previous year. Most of the deaths occurred in West Virginia.

U.S. coal mines recorded 15 workplace deaths in 2017 only a year after they hit a record low, according to Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) data released on Tuesday.
