Examining season's most pressing question: How will retooled Bears score?
CHICAGO _ Before Mike Glennon answered four questions Wednesday about his new backup, he was asked about his highest personal priority for the Bears' opener against the Falcons.
He listed three:
_ Be patient.
_ Take what the defense gives us.
_ Score more points than them.
"That's our job as an offense," he said. "To score more points than the opponent."
Glennon wasn't being a smart aleck. On the contrary, the starting quarterback hit on the No. 1 question facing the 2017 Bears.
How are they going to score?
Last season, they scored fewer points than all but three teams in the NFL.
Now subtract the top two receivers from that squad. Alshon Jeffery is with the Eagles, and Cameron Meredith (left knee) is out for the season. That's 1,709 receiving yards, 118 catches and six touchdowns _ gone.
Gone from a team that scored more than 23 points in only two games last season.
