Saudi Electronic Army hacks Qaradawi’s website

Head of the Global Union of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi’s website has been hacked by a group calling itself the Saudi Electronic Army.

“The technical director of Al-Qaradawi’s official website, social media platforms and personal e-mail has observed continuous hacking attempts,” the Anadolu Agency reported a statement issued by Al-Qaradawi’s office saying. This represents “the failure to face proofs with proofs, opinion with proofs and word with its equivalent.”

Visitors to the website are greeted by a black screen with the name of the Saudi Electronic Army in the middle and a phrase reading: “Al-Qaradawi’s website is under our control for ever.”

In response, Al-Qaradawi published an alternative link for his website yesterday.

In early June, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt released a list of people and organisations with alleged links to Qatar which they designate as “terrorists”; Al-Qaradawi was one of those mentioned.
