Citizen Scientists Comb Images To Find An "Overexcited Planet"

A crowdsourced search for celestial objects called brown dwarfs has had success. Four citizens helped scientists identify a brown dwarf by scanning through images taken by a NASA satellite.

Recently, professional astronomers have been turning to the public for help with their research. So far, these "citizen scientists" have helped characterize distant galaxies and discovered gravitation lenses, among other things.
