In the matter of an instant, Tav Segol went from just about as average as a 16-year-old homeschooler can be, to the unwitting vessel of powers from another realm. Fortunately for him, someone witnessed the precious seconds after all hell broke loose. Rysha Barlett, a seasoned homicide detective, takes it upon himself to mentor and train Tav, and discover the truth about what really happened that night.
Rysha's not the only one asking questions, though. Celestial beings known as the Fallen catch wind of this sudden surge in power, and that, in one of their opinions, "can only mean one thing": Wrath, the son of God himself, has somehow returned from what everyone had assumed was eternal damnation, and is now piloting the body of a teenager in New York City.
Naturally, the Fallen take up arms by sending their best and brightest to find this kid. Little do they know what they're really, really up against.
