St. Maryan Seven Series

We have all got to that point where we are about to engage in something new...and we are not sure how to continue. But she eventually finds high school a lot more fun than she had ever anticipated.  AMY is the FIRST novella in the ST MARYAN SEVEN SERIES. They tell stories that challenge teenagers about their perceptions, their choices, and give teachers and parents dealing with teenagers tips on how to manage them. AMY introduces the characters who feature in the series as well as grounds the narratives. Besides, this series teaches English Idioms as used in context, thereby helping the teenager improve in communication skills and creative writing. The idea here is that a second language is learnt more easily and quicker through narratives, not the textbook. Welcome aboard. 

On 21st September 2013, four masked gunmen attacked the WESTGATE MALL in Nairobi's Westlands area. Westlands is an upmarket suburb of Kenya's capital,. Nairobi. What followed was several days of total horror in which as many as 70 people were killed. The attack was generally blamed on Muslim extremism and it was neither the first, nor the last.  ST MARYAN SEVEN AND THE WESTGATE RESCUE is a fictional enactment of this horror story. It fictionally examines what the victims might have gone through by recreating the horrors of this capture and hostage situation that lasted for quite some time. This story examines the root of such extremism and guides the youth on speaking out and agitating against such extremism. It is also a girls' hero story that encourages not only students in general but girls in particular.  The SECOND narrative in the continuing ST MARYAN SEVEN SERIES, the novel tells the story of two students caught in the melee of the capture/abduction and how the girls help in speaking up against terrorism. It is a MUST READ for the youth in a world constantly faced with extremism of all sorts.

We've all heard of the horrible stories about househelps and child trafficking around the world. Recent stories of Mexican migrants to USA dying in container trucks are disturbing. The problem is especially rampant in the Middle East where girls from Africa and Asia are misused in the name of house maids. It seems nobody talks about this problem. Governments turn a blind eye or look the other way and pretend to be doing something about this problem even when many deaths of loved ones are reported. Sometimes we think - what the hell, those girls take themselves there! But we might be wrong. Very wrong. Many of them are innocent girls or mothers looking to feed their families. This book draws its inspiration from the age-old conflict between the sexes. Men have forever been in conflict with women over who can do what, who should do what, and probably to put it more succintly, who can do what better than the other. This conflict is even sharper in the youth with young women going for careers formerly meant for the male gender, such as politics - and most science based careers. This novella focuses on games. In the story, seven St. Mary's Girls High School students - who we have already met in the other three novellas in the series (Amy, St. Maryan Seven and The Westgate Rescue and St. Maryan Seven and the Dubai Allure) decide to challenge a neighbouring boys school in soccer. With other cross-currents in the plot which involve their school, the boys themselves, as well as their teacher's former collegemate, the stage is set for a riveting narrative. The girls learn a lot more than they bargained for when they challenge these boys.
