About this series
Wulfbertie has emerged unscathed from brushes with treachery, turbulence and time. He has heroically been a hero on many occasions and proven his worth to kings, princesses, abbots and frenchmen. So where does he go from here. He's ready to be a soldier and move to fully grown hero-hood. But there is a way to go, the last great battle to face and the Wulf Man Mantra to solve. And a decision to take on what kind of hero it would be best to be.
Titles in the series (6)
- Old Habits (Dye Hard): The Adventures of Wulfbertie, #1
1
Wulfbert of Dean in the Saxon, or maybe, Anglo-Celtic county of Engle-land, some time in the dark middle ages is destined to be a soldier. Until his parents abandon him in the local Abbey by way of punishment for his own good with a load of monks with silly haircuts and shabby habbits. The holy brothers don't understand his destiny or the importance of fighting the vikings and bears and other bad guys. So, obviously, he is going to escape. As soon as possible. After dinner.
- Murky Waters: The Adventures of Wulfbertie, #2
2
The abbey walls are surrounded by vikings and saxons and other marauders. And wild beasts. And now the waters are rising and the city is flooding. The ancient foundations of the buildings shift and the tower tilts. And then the bloody flux infects the citizens of Glewcaster. We need a hero, preferably with a big heart. Wulfbertie is a hero. When he's not too busy.
- Relics and Romans: The Adventures of Wulfbertie, #3
3
A plague is ravaging the survivors of the flood. Times are desperate and so is the population. Having lost their homes and their property times are tough and temptations are... tempting. And there is gold in the hills. A hoard - or so I have heard. And the children of the town's leaders are making Wulfbertie look bad. That can't be allowed. Bertie always looks good.
- The Viking Menace: The Adventures of Wulfbertie, #4
4
Vikings threaten the land and the king (or sub-king anyway) has been sending letters to Wulfbertie. As you would if your kingdom (or sub-kingdom) was in peril. The monks are too distracted by the rebuilding and a new bell and an old Bishop and other unimportant (but quite interesting) things. So is it only Wulfbertie who can see the nefarious and secretive plottings and danger? Probably.
- Too Many Traitors: The Adventures of Wulfbertie, #5
5
Even the environment is against Wulfbertie. Storms! Earthquakes! And plots! They aren't part of the environment but they are definitely going on. Power plays and treachery. Murderous intentions and usurpation. Its all very naughty. But at least Wulfbertie has been summoned to the royal palace at Wincaster to save the king and the princess and get dressed up. There are dastardly plans to foil and Bertie's just the postulant to do it.
- The Wulf Man Secret: The Adventures of Wulfbertie, #6
6
Wulfbertie has emerged unscathed from brushes with treachery, turbulence and time. He has heroically been a hero on many occasions and proven his worth to kings, princesses, abbots and frenchmen. So where does he go from here. He's ready to be a soldier and move to fully grown hero-hood. But there is a way to go, the last great battle to face and the Wulf Man Mantra to solve. And a decision to take on what kind of hero it would be best to be.
Amanita Peridot Festoon
Amanita is a seventeen-hundred year old Geo-architectural Fungiphile and harpsichordist. Throughout her long life Amanita travelled widely in all the known lands of the globe (and some unknown ones). Along the way she recorded the interesting stories of people she met. One of those people was Wulfbertie. Amanita met Wulfbertie when he was an old man living in the Palace at King's Holm, Glewcaster. He remembered all the events of his youth with crystal clarity and Amanita wrote them down for posterity.
