- The Road to Jerusalem
1
For power. For passion. For glory. The epic story of the Knights Templar. Born in 1150 to a noble Swedish family and coming of age at a monastery under the tutelage of a Cistercian monk and a former Knight Templar, young Arn Magnusson is sent to fulfill his destiny beyond the cloister walls. But the world awaiting him is a place at odds with his monastic ways. And when the murder of a king engulfs Western Götaland into a whirlwind of intrigue and ruthless power plays, headstrong and naive Arn is forced to leave the woman he loves behind and take up arms to battle infidels in the Holy Land.
- The Templar Knight
2
Swedish author Jan Guillou follows up the highly acclaimed The Road to Jerusalem with the second book in his Knights Templar trilogy. The Knight Templar follows Arn's adventures in the Holy Land, where he discovers that the infidel Saracens aren't as brutish and uncivilized as he had been led to believe, and that in fact there is another, darker side to the teaching of the Cistercians.
- Birth of the Kingdom
3
In the final gripping volume of Jan Guillou's boundary-breaking Crusades Trilogy, exiled warrior Arnde Gotha returns home to Sweden, determined to liberate and unite his homeland in what promises to be his greatest trial yet. Traveling from Saladin's sand-swept Holy Lands to the Scandinavian North, Arn's final adventure is a captivating historical narrative encompassing the struggle for honor, the quest for lost love, and the momentous clash of European and Middle Eastern cultures. Fans of Bernard Cornwell, Conn Iggulden, William Dietrich, and James Clavell will be enthralled by Jan Guillou's Birth of the Kingdom, the stunning and dramatic climax to a tale begun in The Road to Jerusalem and The Templar Knight, and a masterpiece of epic and magisterial historical fiction.
