The Show Must Go On When stage magician Blake Alexander aka Blake Fire who has a grim reaper for a soul senses someone in his audience is going to die he dances between life and death to not collect them with all his strength he must live and not take them to the afterlife because when his soul is released his body dies and he can't die on stage in front of the world let alone come back to life.

Coroner Blake is interviewed on tv show about murder and how some people do it to get noticed, the host kills co host to get ratings for show and blames killing on necromancer a good scapegoat. except the necromancer was at another killing. lance the necromancer and blake try to find killer. the killer is busy trying to get the necromancer arrested and is saying police not even trying to get him. people watch the show because of the crime.

It was a strange day when Blake Alexander found out about this odd case everyone at his hospital wanted to decorate the hospital for Christmas drunk on the Christmas cheer. But that was nothing the reapers were trying to get the after life business in line with fate's decree that they celebrate Christmas with reapers collecting people as Santa clauses which Blake was totally against. To him it was an anathema. He felt like scrooge It was getting so Christmasy the people at the hospital had stopped calling him Dr Death on the upside but on the downside they called him the Grinch. He was in a bad mood when he visited the police station which was trimmed for Christmas too.

One of the magicians join a TV mask singing contest where the game is murder. "Hello I am the Masked Magician I am here to win the Masked Celebrity Singer contest I won't tell you how to do magic but I will enchant you with my voice," said a man in an over the top magician's outfit who looked quite handsome with his black and white tux in his hand a rosebud on a long stem on his face a mask which accentuated his good looks. "Now to the show our first mystery who is the Masked Magician," Blake appeared on the stage out of thin air. "And how to make him disappear," muttered Lance walking off stage.

Will this killer scare him to death or kill him?   Lance Alexander Sr sat singing along with his car radio as he waited to pick up his son Jr. He was totally distracted by the music. He didn't see the man jump in his car til it was too late. "What are you doing in my car," said Lance noticing him. "Drive!" said the stranger coldly. "I'm waiting for my son hit the road, Jack!" said Lance he hadn't time for this guy. "Forget him and drive," said the stranger pulling a gun on Lance. "You don't want to do this mate!" warned Lance knowingly. "do you think you're a magician?" asked the carjacker. "I'm worse!" said Lance smiling darkly as starting the car and sped off. Lance was worse than a magician they were heroes he was wanted by the police as a serial killer. His son saw his car speed away. "Okay I'll take myself home then!" said Jr shortly and disappeared into thin air teleporting home.   Meanwhile, in the car, the carjacker was terrified thinking he chose the wrong car to carjack. The owner was insane and had some sort of a death wish he was all over the road like a madman and had a devil-may-care attitude with the carjacker. "Let me out of here? Shadow Play Blake Alexander and his son Lance the Necromancer meet a celebrity ghost Federici the ghost who haunts Melbourne's famous Princess Theater ghost because he spooked a reaper who was taking him to the afterlife. "You don't know the Phantom of the Opera?" Blake chuckled. "Yeah Gaston Leroux wrote it and it was performed here as a musical yonks ago. He is not real," said Lance. "No not that one Frederick Baker," said Blake. "Fredrick Baker?" asked Lance puzzled. "Federici the Phantom of the Princess Theater," said Blake. "Federwhatsi?" Lance said. "Reech ee, Federici he's called," Blake said and sighed, "Call him Fred." "Ok why is Fred still here?" asked Lance. Snr depressed seeing it. A mad vigilante goes after the Masked Chicken for getting custody of his kid to his wife who he later killed. the Rose the Chicken's better half tries to keep alive and with Jnr they try to capture the killer.

Hello darkness, my old friend Blake said in a dark room alone in the afterlife wonder what brought him to be there lost in thoughts of darkness and sadness as he quite often did when he had time to himself. Listening to his favorite Coldplay album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends song 42 was playing when in barged a grim reaper with a ghost. He was spooked for a moment only startled. He'd seen them before the Reaper was his assistant the ghost was there for judgement he was the judge of the dead. The ghost was spooked hearing such a dark song in the place he thought they were trying to scare him it worked if it he was trying to scare him he thought. "I'm not trying to scare you," Blake said reading his mind "I was just relaxing." "Why did you put out the candles," asked his assistant. To the horror of the ghost all the candles in the room blazed on in a blinding flash when the ghost could see again he saw Blake he was a grim reaper more terrifying than his assistant. In the afterlife Blake's boss Argent has decided to bring back the Christmas spirit again with the Jack Skellingtons are making a comeback everywhere. How far will this madness go? Will the police get what they want for Christmas the serial killer the Necromancer's name or will the miss their present the living reaper Mortimer signed seal and delivered to them by Argent himself. "You need Brandy," said Argent making a glass of it appear in his hand and handed it Mortimer. "But I don't drink," said Mortimer. "You can and must it's Christmas," said Argent. "Okay it's your party," said Mortimer, "Salute!" Mortimer said and drank. He ended up in wet Santa suit. "Why are you covered in drink that's not in the spirit of the season," said Argent. "I said I don't drink I'm a skeleton! What did you expect to happen?" Moaned Mortimer.    The Grinch returns Christmas carols rang around the photo with Santa area a child wandered up to Santa Claus and sat on his lap. "What do you want little boy," moaned Santa who sounded like he would rather be somewhere else. Nearby Santa's adult son watched him joyfully. "I cannot believe you got Blake playing Santa again he hates Christmas," said Santa's wife Angela to her stepson. "It wasn't me It was Argent a Santa in the Santa's agency was murdered. He's undercover as Santa to find the killer," said Santa's son Lance. Lance left his stepmother and walked over to his father shouting "Grinch, are you trying to steal Christmas again?" Santa moaned and tossed off the child ignoring him. "What do you want, boy to kill Christmas too," Santa moaned at his serial killer son. "The Grinch has to go feed the dead, come back later," said Lance glaring with eyes like fire at the nervous crying children who wanted to sit on Santa's lap. "Congratulations you've killed Christmas," moaned Santa feeling pity for the scared children, "Ignore the bad man he's getting coal for Christmas." "I'm not going there, dad," said his son knowing giving coal was unwoke and he could have said many things but didn't. "Oh come with me you brat!" said Santa dragging his son away.

"You can't what?" asked Blake Alexander, Lance's dad. "I can't go to prison as the Necromancer," said Lance. "Why can't you," asked his uncle. "Do you think he's the Necromancer?" asked Blake. "Of course not we need a man we can trust on the inside who can pose as the Necromancer to entrap a prison kingpin," said Simon. "You planning to come out as dead are you?" asked Lance not threatening just stating a fact the father of the Necromancer was Mortimer the grim reaper, King. "I am not going to be around for that," said Blake planning a holiday in hell when Lance came out as the Necromancer a serial killer. "Where are you going?" asked Blake's Uncle. "Never you mind," said Blake. "He's a coward," said Lance. "No would you be in my place I can't be deposed as emperor of the solar system if I'm not there," Blake said. "Didn't think of that," said Simon. "I'll do it," said Lance defiantly thinking how much of a problem it would be to his father.

The Picture of Death Aureus Argent aka Gabriel Drac, (the former Masked Chicken) a Magician paints a picture of Blake as a human magician he is the emperor of the magicians, and as a birthday present for Blake, it ends up in his afterlife office, where he is to have a reporter doing an article on him by order of Fate, his boss. How bad can this go? Really bad! But how bad? (last story in book not series) this book has tons more good stories from series in no particular order.

He was made a tool of the season, making Blake feel like a fool. His son the Necromancer is making the season any better for him either. Not a kids story
