Meredith is in for the surprise of her life.
The story of Meredith and the Captain picks up with the unexpected reappearance of Kempton, Meredith’s uncle and erstwhile abductor. The Captain doesn’t know who Kempton is, and Meredith doesn’t understand why. The romance between Meredith and the Captain took a downturn with the death of Mike, the Captain’s brother, in a car accident.
Kempton’s presence in the area does nothing to improve their relationship. In fact, it adds to the mystery and confusion and threatens Sukey’s personal safety again.
As promised, the story of Meredith and the Captain ends with a Happy Ever After for Meredith, but not until she's hit with the surprise of her life. After all Meredith’s been through she deserves to be happy in this the last book in the series.
