About this series

Unfortunately, the wicked wheels of sin are set in motion. So, the once pious town is heading straight towards another Reaping of the Souls. But is it truly too late? Is it possible that if they repent now and sacrifice the three biggest sinners in town, their souls can be spared? That's what Reverend Pryor has convinced everyone, but will his secret motives and the desperation to cover up his own sins push New Hope past the brink and ultimately destroy what little remaining defense they have?

Hell is watching closely, but their villainous society has its own problems to deal with. The Lost Souls are just about fed up with the constant abuse, and one of the Dark Lord's daughters appears to be possessed by a God-like entity from the past, but no one dares speak its name. Could it possibly be the same spirit that haunted Driftwood Blackheart and the Bloody Antagonists, the one that drove them all completely insane? If so, there can only be death and destruction in store for all of Eden. Or worse yet, it may soon return to being a Ghost World.

Jacob Miller, a teenager who has lived in the isolated and deeply religious community of New Hope all his life, never believed the old stories about how the devil and his demons would invade their town and carry away souls. Only a few surviving elders could claim to have witnessed these horrors first-hand two generations ago, yet nobody knows for sure what lies beyond the boundaries of New Hope. Everyone who has ever wandered beyond its limits was either never seen again or returned, frightened to death, and claiming they'd seen the eyes of the devil himself watching over them from a darkened sky.   Over the generations, the once-pious population has become complacent, and it turns out that the old stories Jacob refused to believe are all too true. Hell is actually a thriving civilization with advanced technology that evolved from an ancient satanic and sadistic culture—with a hidden, and dark, connection to New Hope. With New Hope's sins mounting—from Jacob's elicit love outside his arranged marriage to a local pervert who peeps on women and fantasizes about abduction and murder —the next Reaping of Souls is imminent, and the citizens of New Hope will witness the true price of their transgressions.

The sinful underbelly in New Hope is starting to swell and is ready to burst, while tensions in Hell are boiling to a head. What could Jacob's prophetic nightmares possibly signify? And how outside of Hell could they be so detailed― seeing horrific faces that he'd never met before? Perhaps New Hope and Hell are more closely connected than anyone realizes. But why?   The number of random beatings for retaliation in Hell continues to escalate, but how much more abuse can the Lost Souls endure? The Dark Lord feels confident that a rebellion can be quickly squashed because He possesses a secret cache of weaponry that is even more powerful than the Demonic telepathic powers wielded by the Campbells. But the Unholy Ruler secretly harbors a more profound hidden fear, a fear of the past. Who is the mysterious Driftwood Blackheart, what is his connection to Eden and its protected background, and why is the Second Leg of Hell terrified of the possibility that the Once Man may one day return?

Author

S S Ralph

I’m a writer from Newfoundland, Canada. My favorite authors are Clive Barker and Frank Herbert, so my writing style is a mash-up of horror, black comedy, and science fiction, which I like to call dark sci-fi. My main influences come from the multi-cultural music I listen to and the horror movies I grew up watching when I was a kid. On top of completing the entire Driftwood Blackheart saga, I also hope to sell related merchandise online and start a nonprofit charity organization.
