About this series
Everyone wants to believe they're safe. I'm no different. My father is Matt Wilson, an ex MMA fighter, a retired Portland Police Detective. My mother is Elizabeth Wilson, an FBI agent who spends more time chasing bad guys than she does with her own family. She tries when she's around, but when she's absent more than she is present, especially during the times I need her most, it's hard to forgive her.
And then there's Arlo. The boy I've known my entire life. The boy I loved before I knew what the word even met. The man I will marry because I can't imagine my life without him.
So what's the problem you ask?
I wish someone would have told me. I wish my Mom would have taken me aside and told me why she was so hellbent on chasing ghosts from her past. Because now they're back and I am absolutely terrified of who they have their sights set on next.
Above all, I wish someone would have told me the people I love are the ones I should be the most afraid of.

Beth: I shouldn't have made it past my fourteenth year. A moment of weakness, a box cutter, and the decision to end my torment. A stranger walking in the wrong hospital room gave me a chance to turn my life around. Ten years later, I'm living a lie. I thought I had a better handle on it, thought I knew what I was doing, but there are some forces out of my control. Matt: I don't do the love, marriage, and kid thing. One night is all it took. A burning car, an unconscious woman, and those eyes. But here's the problem. Her injuries aren't from the accident and she's not talking. I'm keeping her at arm's length, but she's unraveling everything I thought I wanted. Just when I think I know who she is, the lies start to unravel. And it's not what I want to hear.
- Screams Of Deception: Screams, #2

We needed a change. A chance to breathe without the ex-husband breathing down my neck, the constant arguments regarding our daughter's needs, and the whore who tore our marriage apart. I took the plunge. Put in my transfer to the Portland Police Department and once it became final, my daughter and I joined my twin brother in Portland, Oregon. A start to a new beginning. So where did it go wrong? Was it the Special Victim's Unit I was assigned to when I asked for homicide? Was it when I was partnered up with Matt Wilson and Nicci Sparks? Two detectives who have their own issues. Wilson's mourning the kidnapping of his son, Sparks, a recovering alcoholic who can't take anything serious. Was it when I dropped my guard and let him in? A man women lust over and he's sleeping in my bed. Or was it the case I was thrown into? A predator tormenting women, taking souvenirs, flaunting he is always one step ahead of us. I lost sight of what's important. Lost sight of what the real objective is. Coming from a military driven family, I know better. I have two options here. Lay down and take it or fix it. One thing you need to know about me. I lay down for no one. Authors Note: This story contains explicit scenes and adult language and may be offensive to some readers. Intended for Mature Audiences.
