The Warning Notice: Midrash Bible Studies, #1

This study uses a Peshar Midrash to explore the question 'Does God Reveal His Future Plans to His People and if so how?' It carefully examines the differences between the prophecies of Scripture and the type of prophetic gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12 and 14. The notion of global revival in which the Church will triumphantly emerge to rule the nations is refuted on the grounds that it is unbiblical and damaging because it creates unrealistic expectations that when frustrated can lead people to abandon the faith altogether. Helpful definition lists, summaries and study questions for individual and group reflection are included.

The End-Time Church: Midrash Bible Studies, #2

This study examines the question, 'what will be the condition of the church immediately before Christ's return?' It employs a number of New Testament texts to argue: - 1) The Bible does not (and never has) promised an end-time global revival with the Church governing the nations (and transforming society) in preparation for Christ's return. Any so called 'reformation' or 'movement' within today's Church which seeks to accomplish these goals is not based on Scriptuture/. 2) The New Testament warns of a global deception which many naive Christians will equate with revival. However, the very opposite will take place – with Christians actually being persecuted for their faith. Every branch and tradition of the Church will be affected. 3) Bible prophecy would suggest that aberrant forms of Christianity (rather than atheism) will be the main challenge facing the Church in the period of Christ's return. 4) Christians need to adopt a more realistic approach to world events. Should they continue to ignore what's going on around them they risk of turning against the faith when times become excessively difficult. 5) Analysing and understanding the nature of apostasy is one way of not succumbing to it

Is Our Love Biblical?: Midrash Bible Studies, #5

This study examines the question, 'what are the characteristics of love?' it does this with a view to the problem of 'hyper-love' which is rife in Western Christianity. Sometimes expressing itself as a mushy sentimentality – this is a 'love' which has departed from biblical standards. It follows an 'anything goes' stance which says 'if it feels loving do it.' At the individual level, this study will help readers to assess whether a particular relationship they are getting into has the characteristics of true love. Objective criteria is provided for helping them decide whether such a relationship is right for them - thereby reducing the risk of rushing into unhealthy associations that could inflict lasting damage.

The Focus of Our Faith: Midrash Bible Studies, #4

It encourages believers to hope that perseverance in the faith amidst difficult circumstances will be recognized and rewarded by Christ on Judgement Day.

Without Blood No Forgiveness: Midrash Bible Studies, #6

This Literal Midrash Study of Hebrews 9:22 examines the question, 'Does Christ's blood really represent the only means whereby people of all cultural backgrounds (Jewish as well as non- Jewish) can receive forgiveness of sin and the free gift of salvation?' It refutes the error of a certain American based Messianic Jewish leader who maintained that Christ's blood represented only one means whereby atonement (covering or cleansing) could be made for sin. Highlighted is the way the beneficial influence of Christ's death extends backwards as well as forwards in time, Consequently, believers are challenged to show a deep appreciation for the shedding of Christ's blood, which has granted them so many blessings.
