Mail Order Brides Series

Leanna Rosalie was young and beautiful and her family, her life in Louisana was wonderful and exciting. The Mardi Gra, the music, the Cajun food, everthing was just perfect. Suddenly everything changed and she found herself alone and vulnerable. Her father made a deal with a very weathy and enfluential man named Caleb Calloway. Soon she realized that she was the pawn in this deal. Her father disappeared at sea and she witnessed her mother murdered at the hands of Caleb Calloway. He made it very clear that she was his posession. Callie one of the  local saloon girls watched as Caleb brutilized Leanna. She was determined to save Leanna.

She wasn't exactly sure she wanted to become a mail-order bride, but it couldn't hurt to look. She sent a message to Leanna and Olivia and got on a stage heading to California, searching for an adventure and hoping to find love along the way. 

Melina May was abused as a child. Her father took off in the Spring for a cattle drive and hadn't returned. Her mother would leave for days at a time to satisfy her needs with the town drunk. This time she didn't return either. It would have been fine but her it wasn't just her. The twins who were five would never survive without her.  When she came across an ad looking for mail order brides, she thought this might just work. She needed to find someone who was willing to take her and the boys. They were of course a package deal, but was there someone out there that would want all three of them?  Leanna read the letter of this poor young woman who seemed desparate. She wanted to make sure that all of them were taken care of so she sent for them to come to Silver Valley. What she didn't expect was all the excitement that would come along with Melina. 

Olivia Rose orphaned at a very young age was the child of a fur trader and a Cheyenne squaw. Taken to an orphanage she quickly found that no one wanted to adopt what the people called a half-breed.savage. As she grew up she remained at the orphanage, teaching and caring for the children. Elizabeth or Betsy as she was called came from a very prominent family in Boston. She met Olivia one day in the market and they soon became good friends. Betsy's family did not approve so they just began meeting in the secret whenever they could. Betsy was determined to help her friend escape life in the orphanage. When she found an ad at the postal office she pulled it down and gave it to Olivia. "You must do this" she told her friend. "Send a letter, your life cannot be worse than this." The ad she gave her said that they were looking for mail order brides for gold miners in California/  These men were lonely and needed a woman for companionship. This was ridiculous she thought, no one would want her, but she wrote the letter anyway. She was honest about her life, and she mailed it off figuring no one would ever respond. When a letter came back addressed to her she was surprised. She still wasn't sure but then Mrs. Culpepper came with devastating news and Olivia knew she had to do something. 

Major Clancy did his best to raise Abigail after the death of his wife.  Her womanly skills left a bit to be desired having been raised by military men in a Fort in the middle of Indian Territory. When her father was ordered to return to Washington D.C. for a promotion Abigail found that there were quite a few things that she was not prepared for one of them being her mother's family.
