This is the story of what happened long before Hajime was summoned to Tortus. Oscar Orcus is considered a third-rate Synergist by most people. He spends his days peacefully, working so he can send money back to an orphanage. All that changes when the whirlwind that is Miledi Reisen storms into his life. Miledi sees the hidden potential in Oscar, and invites him on her journey to defeat the gods. Oscar wants no part of any journey, and he refuses. But Miledi is persistent, and the situation changes drastically when the orphanage he wants to protect is attacked. In the end, what will our unlikely hero decide?

Now that both Oscar and Naiz have joined the Liberators, Miledi sets her sight westward, hoping to recruit the fabled Saint of the Western Seas. The party heads to the island city of Andika, where they run into the kind-looking sadistic pirate queen, Meiru. At the same time, the Holy Church tasks their knight commander, Laus Bahn, with the extermination of the Melusine Pirate Group that Meiru leads. As various powers gather on the small island city, tensions rise. A battle greater than any before looms as three separate powers clash.

A few months have passed since the battle at Andika, and the Liberators have spent some much-needed time resting. But when Miledi heads to a Liberator branch office with her newest comrade, Meiru, she discovers that the hidden village in the Reisen Gorge has been destroyed! She rushes over to the scene only to meet a mysterious man wearing a scarf. He introduces himself as Vandre Schnee, another user of ancient magic, and he says he's willing to join the Liberators, but only if Miledi and the others go to the demon kingdom, Igdor. Who is this mysterious man, and can they trust him!?

After receiving a plea for help from Badd, the Liberators’ vice-commander, Miledi and the others race toward the Haltina Republic, which is currently embroiled in a fierce war with the church. Upon arriving, Miledi confronts the leader of the Holy Templar Knights, Laus Barn, once more. As their ideals clash, the spectre of one of God’s Apostles looms over the forest. The battle between the Liberators and their true enemy draws near, but who will emerge victorious?
