About this series
• Save hundreds, if not thousands of dollars every year by having the right health insurance.
• Turn that confusion-laced fine print into clear, precise details that are simple to understand
• Having the right Health Insurance is your investment in a healthy life
• How to pay your Excess and Co-payments.
I have worked in the health care system for years in areas directly relating to the patients’ Health Insurance. I have seen, first hand, that there are a great number of people who are unaware of the limitations of their own Health Insurance.
But, I do understand that it is NOT through the patient’s own negligence. It really is the responsibility of the staff member (slash salesperson) at the Health Fund to tell you the FULL ins-and-outs of the cover that they are selling you.
The way it generally goes is like this. You walk into the fund branch or phone them. They suggest what suits you. They explain that you will pay this much a month and whether or you are covered for hospital. They may even tell you what your Excess will come to.
Because they know it all inside out they can blurt it all out pretty quickly. Before you know it, they’ve finished talking, you’re making a choice out of option A or, option B and then your sold.
Well I guess if you have no idea of what you are looking for, that’s the only way you can go about it.
But what if you went into a store knowing that you didn’t need to go into hospital regularly and neither did any member of your family? What if you knew that having an Excess to pay could work out smarter in your own circumstances, or perhaps it didn’t.
An alternate scenario to the one I have just described is that you walk into the Heath fund branch ready to buy your health insurance. This time you are totally prepared because you KNOW what you want to be covered for, You are clear on how your Excess and co-payment work. You will also understand this could work to your benefit if you don’t go into hospital.
So now, with this very clear picture of what you need, nobody would be able to pull the wool over your eyes because you know your Health Insurance.
In this second scenario, you have the opportunity to really the right insurance policy for your family, not just one that you half-understood and the half felt bedazzled by.
As a qualified teacher in three essential life areas, I have decided that the public needs better information to help them make the right decisions when it comes to making these types of choices.
This book is a self-help book on investing in your own Healthy Care. A good health insurance will be rewarded because at that critical moment in time it could literally cover thousands of dollars in health care fees.
When it comes to your own Healthy Care, you will find that investing in your own personal health is an area that you should be including within your personal money management strategies.
In fact, there is little difference between being on top of your personal finance as there is to being in control of your own personal health.
As witness in my job to how health covers are explained to policy-holders, I find that many people leave the fund centers without having been given enough information. Many times they expect their policy to cover their visits to hospital, dentists, opticians etc., but that is not the always the case.
Health Insurance is not difficult to understand. Healthy Care has been created as a consumers aid and aims to turn the Health Insurance fine print into clear easy-to-understand, everyday language.
