About this series

Born on the mean streets of Montreal, where one might just as well become a French-speaking hooker as write dirty little stories, Black Heart has been peddling its wares from atop wobbly stilettos straight from the start.

Graduating from online erotica rag to smutty print 'zine to to daily online lit mag, the Heart's still Black and the stories are still the lifeblood flowing through its veins.

Celebrating 10 years of publishing short fiction, poetry, author interviews and tons more indie literary content, Black Heart Magazine's BEST OF BLACK HEART 2014 contains only the best contributions, published by fearless editors and equally brave writers.

Enjoy author interviews with indie favorites like Chuck Wendig, Rhiannon Frater, Benjamin Sobieck, Jessica McHugh and Pamela DuMond. Read some of the world's best up-and-coming authors as they play on the page with short stories, poetry and Character Crushes -- a Black Heart original, where authors explore their literary crushes.

If you're reading this, you're one of us – the people that dance to a different heartbeat, who never stop listening to that rhythm, no matter how out of step it may seem compared to the rest of the world. Grab a copy today, and let the celebration begin.

Laura Roberts can leg-press an average-sized sumo wrestler, has nearly been drowned off the coast of Hawaii, and tells lies for a living. She is the founding editor of Black Heart Magazine, the San Diego Chapter Leader for the Nonfiction Authors Association, and publishes whatever strikes her fancy at Buttontapper Press.
