About this series
After the last fight with the three gods ends in defeat, life once more is quiet in the temple for Val. Their days filled with their girlfriend, Ariel, and hoping to mend the broken relationship with Firtzzz. For now, no sign of the three deities that started the previous adventure as the warrior starchild does what they can to prepare for the next attack.
But things change when Inanna’s consort, Dumuzid, sends word from the underworld. A message that the goddess of the dead, Ereshkigal, wants to speak with her little sister of strange deaths. Two nights in a row, groups of those many would call detestable are slaughtered. Murdered by a mysterious entity, the divine thinks Inanna might have done this, demanding answers. Anger at past actions that once kept them apart pushed aside for what they hope is the greater good.
But this is only the beginning as a shadowy force hungers for vengeance and the blood of the guilty. Darkness feasting on those it determines a lifetime in prison is not enough punishment. This mystery further complicated by a death that will shake the group and push them in ways they couldn’t have predicted. A covenant sealed between two warriors to protect the lives of loved ones, and consequently, the world they hold dear. Truths revealed through suffering. Life knitted with the strings of fate on a loom of deception. A light found in others from the oddest of places. A threat to survival gifting Val with love and a chance at relationships they never imagined. And with beings they never thought they would meet during such dark times.
The sands of time they will find is forgiving and that of second chances, but the price cannot be paid easily. And in the end won’t always lead to the desired results. The woven fate laid out for them one that could be torn and mended but never staying the same. Like a ripped cloth, it can be repaired, but would never look like it did before. And when the final stitch is done, you can only pray it’s good enough...

- Goddesses of War
1
Val is just an ordinary shape-shifter called a starchild in an ordinary town with ordinary citizens. The sky always gray, the beach has creatures below the surface that will drag you under if you stray beyond the net. The forest that surrounds most of it never the same day to day, filled with monsters that most of humanity only thought creatures of legend. And Val wouldn’t have it any other way. No city could ever feel like home when the worst that happens is a horse digs through your garbage or an invasion of raccoons that often hypnotize humans to find food. No other town has an elder god that can cause temporary insanity with a glance. This is where they live and no other land could take its place. That all changes when a photo is discovered inside a hidden room of Val’s rental and a ghost tells her history with an ancient war goddess who eyes them. A deity with an insatiable bloodlust and in a decades-long search for a champion. Adding to this, a strange dog with a dark past reveals an evil older than humanity that will cause them to go on a journey and uncover secrets better left unspoken. Unable to escape the goddess’s greed when she pushes the peaceful starchild to violence no matter how fast or where they run. The quest for peace growing closer to impossible when another goddess decides their destiny should be in her temple. Her cult of women with machine guns hard to ignore. Both doing what they can to ensure the fun-loving shape-shifter shall betray their nature and burn with a lust for battle when they get what they desire. Will Val control their fate and escape the reach of two goddesses? What can be done when all they have known is put to the test?
- Inanna's Anger
2
This shape-shifter is back and ready to fight even more gods. After becoming Inanna’s champion, Val is an ordinary starchild in an ordinary cult with ordinary humans. The war over and branded with a star on their shoulder to mark them as her personal fighter. While the outside of the temple looks as if it could fall under the slightest breeze, inside is teeming with women and eunuchs serving the goddess. The roof garden is full of life and a lazy river in the temple perfect for relaxation. The strays that roam the streets and ships that fly in the night sky kind of the same as the forest back home. It’s not the worst life while waiting to learn what battle they might fight next. But things change when a woman is found dumped at the door. Nearly beaten to death and Inanna the only one who has the power to save her in time, a starchild’s world is about to become a lot more violent, again. The human speaks of a man nicknamed “Jackie” taking prostitutes off the street as part of a game. The closer to dying, the more points earned. A rumor he competes against others in a twisted competition. But when it seems that is the worst Jackie could do, he murders his family and goes missing. When Inanna’s twin and god of the sun and justice teams up for divine law and order, it becomes far worse than they ever imagined. The one man with a knife quickly turning into five gods and a demented plan they can only guess what the end goal is.

SR Brown
Author SR Brown writes fiction inspired by a caffeine-fueled muse and childhood of reading in the dark after lights out. A proud LGBTQA author, Brown enjoys to include characters with all kinds of lives and from various backgrounds in any walk of life. Tales range from fun and sweet characters going on adventures in town to a stranger holding out their hand promising adventure, but both usually leads to something much darker. Battered and bruised by the end, most come out alive. Unlike Brown, if placed in most written about situations. But they may stand a chance having fought the darkness of a narrow flight of stairs and faced the shadow people that often visit at night. They are wonderful at suggesting ideas, but never subtle in entering the door.
