The Tilly and George Adventures Series

Tilly and George float away in a bubble after dinner one day whilst doing the washing up and find themselves in a strange Kingdom inhabited by insects and ants. They have many adventures trying to save the field ants and their insect friends from the invasion of the huge colony of black, soldier ants and their powerful Queen. With help from such characters as Riff, Captain of the Field Guard, Bootle - a water beetle, Gebbo - a brave spider and many others, they manage to carry out a daring escape plan and restore the Kingdom to its former state of harmony and freedom.

This is the story of a girl who decides to go on an adventure - all by herself.  Or at least that's what she thinks.  In fact, she is allocated a rather grumpy Angel for her journey; an Angel who would much rather prefer to be helping old codgers kick the bucket than dealing with the energetic exploits of a young girl. This is an Angel with attitude, an Angel with a receding hairline and hobnailed boots, an Angel who begrudgingly helps Molly in and out of various scrapes - scrapes that involve wooden dogs, mer-children, water monsters, you name it - the Angel raises an eyebrow in exasperation and attempts to deal with it. Molly never sees the Angel, so she is unaware of the help that the Angel gives her throughout her journey. The journey is a learning curve and a great adventure, as much for Molly as for the Angel. Tilly and George shrink in size with the striking of a magical grandfather clock.  This time they meet up with and help a family of mice desperate to move from the house in which they have been living beneath the floorboards after a stray cat has taken up residency. The children set off with the mice on an eventful journey.  On the way they meet Bitz - a scary, hairy bluebottle, Sloop - a kindly water vole, plus a vindictive and temperamental frog, not to mention several other interesting creatures. Their journey takes them along fast-flowing rivers, through windswept sand dunes, into captivity and finally freedom.  Need I say more .......  

The Grumpy Angel is worried.  He has been given exactly what he wanted - an older person to look after - but really he feels he should be with Molly, the little girl he met on his previous job.  The Angel Inspectors arrive and give him the good news.  His new job is to somehow introduce Molly and Mrs. Moffat to each other. This is most confusing for the Angel.  How can he possibly do this?  How can he be in two places at once helping both of them and what is the point of such a task anyway? However, he grits his teeth and gets on with his mission, and during the escapades that follow he manages to fuse all the electrics in a shop, get caught in caves during a storm and flood Mrs. Moffat's house.  He also discovers Mud, the stumpy invisible creature from the garden, who has been with Mrs. Moffat as her helper for many years, and renews his ambiguous relationship with Woodsey Babe, Molly's feisty puppy.   The adventures continue and the Angel somehow manages to deal with each new situation as if arises. Finally, the Angel Inspectors arrive to collect him.  Has he done a good job?  Is he a success?  Read on and see what you think!

Jenny, an only child, anticipates the arrival of her cousins with some fear and trepidation.  She exists quite happily in her own dream world and sees things that others don't.  It is whilst sitting under the old oak tree in the garden and pondering that she comes into contact with one of the garden 'helpers'- the tree spirit! Of course when her confident cousins, Tilly and George, arrive they don't believe a word she says - until, that is, they see 'helpers of their own'. And that is when the adventures really begin. The children meet Abbos, a very old man and monk-like figure, who becomes their guide and mentor throughout and who appears at some point during each of the tests that they are obliged to undertake.  They discover a world of elementals who should be working and co-habiting happily under the leadershop of their God Pan.  Unfortunately, Pan has fallen into the never ending sleep of great despair, having witnessed the continuing damage that human beings inflict on the world and also their great disrespect for the environment and all that Mother Earth has to offer. The children have to find a way to wake Pan before there is nothing left but concrete and waste.  They have to help restore the Kingdom of Pan to its former glory and time is running out ........

Tilly, George and Jenny meet up again for their holidays and whilst exploring on the beach they come across a cave with an amazing, radiating crystal inside it.  It pulls at them and almost hypnotises them and on their next visit to the cave they bring Mr. Jenkins with them, an expert on crystals.  He informs them that the crystal is a Calling Crystal and all four of them are drawn into it.  They find themselves in the City of Crystalis amongst the Crystaleans.  Jenny transforms into the Great Elder Laia, the leader of the City and Mr. Jenkins is taken prisoner.  George and Tilly must mingle with the Crystaleans, communicating with them and learning their ways.  They have to find some way of rescuing Mr. Jenkins and also of getting Jenny back to normal, because as Laia she has no recognition of them.  They go through many adventures before finally getting to the stage where they might be able to rescue their friend and cousin but nothing is ever as easy as it seems .........
