In 219 words, I try to express the new world that a first deep and true love brings to us. I'm no spring chicken, but late in my life, I find that I've been blessed with the most remarkable of people, dropped at my very threshold. I hope these words shed light on the experience I've been having and remind others of their first love, or inspire those still waiting to keep their hopes alive. The apple, cleft from its bough, wrongly rises; Satisfied, yet always yearning, I find myself in whirlpools of love.

These seventeen carefully chosen poems are divided into three chapters. By turns sweet, sexy, pointed and provocative, I strive at all times to be both entertaining and tasteful. The major threads (that I can see) are romantic love, ill-fated and wise choices, finding a voice in the world, nature, birds, and the cosmos. Degrees of choice, degrees of fate; Find your voice before it's too late. Inspired in so many ways by my best friend John, whose influence on me over many years gave me the idea for the title, I pick up his torch, cast its light about my own life, and pass it on to the reader.

Some say, "Gonna gotta let my heir down." I say, "Gonna gotta let my hair down." Where some see nothing but destruction, and in so doing contribute to the destruction, one can also see opportunities for creation. In this river of life, if we are to make our way, we have to be truly free in the senses of liberty and equality. They held a contest to see who could swim most like a fish; the couples who jumped into the water nude and made love were the unanimous choices of all observers.

Six idea-poems in all, in free verse; each idea-poem uses a motif familiar to everyone. The poems are: The Vase, The Whirling Wind, The Pyrrhic Victory, The Eccentric, The Television Set, and The End Of Time. From these motifs I jump off at various tangents to explore the meanings of my latest, greatest love. Do I find themes that are universal? I think the answer to that question is that if my findings are true, then they must apply, at least, to many, many others who have been deeply in love. Are there any meanings apart from the ones centered on love? I would say so, but I would like to let the reader decide. At different times erotic, amusing, philanthropic, brave, bohemian and wry, I think it's a slim volume that can captivate and entertain anybody who takes an interest in passionate love. Adult themes.

I hope that words alone are enough to convey what it is I have discovered about the illusions of living - most pertinently, the illusion of freedom. The goal is to reach out to our horizons and live in ways as true as possible to our nature. Those that block us from the horizons are the despots of life, and they are the bane of existence. From the oneness of existence to the conscious desire to escape our daily bindings, I take a journey to the horizons around us and report back what it is I have found. These thirteen poems cover a lot of ground, culminating in my wish for all others to simply be true to themselves. No adult-only content.

I was born and raised near Montreal, Quebec, midway through the baby-boom, the second of three daughters. (How I got the middle name Xavier is a story in itself.)I started out with a disability, and eventually became a differently-abled person. I have learned in my life that with the three H's, Hope, Humor, and Humility, life offers more than enough rewards. The branches of a tree grow upward and outward, yet in life, our branches can all come back together again in a great knot, and a new tree begins growing upwards - awkward picture, isn't it? Recently I have found tranquility, love, and inspiration, and so it's as though life is beginning all over again. I hope to share my optimistic disposition with my readers; to know your limits, yet hope and strive for your dreams, is what brings out our truest humanity.I now share a Twitter account with my old ex, Robert E Vonne - check out our tweets. @robinrobin55Peace and cheers!
