Egos the size of mountains, power struggles, and even possible sabotage rears its ugly head. Her scowl would have frozen nitrogen as she said, ”You'll never know unless someone squeals.” The message read: There is a group that has infiltrated THE BOARD support personnel. Its purpose is ... He knew Murphy was lurking somewhere. "Cargo ship 2 is drifting out of formation. When the automated diagnostics were run we found ..." Then nature even conspires to kill them. "... inspection shows over 6 inches of dust and debris build up over surface of ship, especially along the structural members. This magnetic dust could present a danger to other ships." "Only the Crab box was close to the inertia system location. Adrina says they were lucky to find their way back." How lost can you really be when you can see the stars, unless you are among them.

      What does a man do when his wife dies? Of course he goes to visit friends for comfort. However, one of his friends starts him on a path that leads him to an Indian reservation in Arizona. Death, mayhem, and magic swirl around him. Circumstances then get him involved with an organization that uses him to divert attention from what they are doing. Unfortunately the top man's daughters find him attractive and decide to keep him. "I see several problems, Sir. First, I think that some of our unsavory friends may overlap. Second, you're right, I'm not in control of the girls. Third, I didn't ask for this situation and must try to make the best of it. Fourth, ...? Fifth, do I want to or will I survive this situation?" Soon another situation with further reaching consequences taps him on the shoulder.

      This is the time that the inner solar system is being utilized from Earth to the asteroid belt. The asteroid belt is being explored and mapped. Identifiable asteroids are suddenly exiting the belt and when the astronomers check they find them still in their original orbits. Upon closer examination they spot what appears to be a spacecraft drifting. How is this mystery spacecraft causing asteroids to be in two places at once and what danger does it pose to the inner planets. The ship sent to examine this mystery spacecraft finds much more than a derelict. Can they find their way back and at what cost to civilization as they know it.

      Tim didn't exactly lie to me when he offered to help me achieve my impossible ambition. If I hadn't been dazzled by my dream, I'd have realized what I could be letting myself in for. He gave me a simple job that wasn't so simple. After all herding cats is simple! I never wanted to be a dictator. I never wanted to be the commander of a rag tag military defense force. I never wanted to be forced into a position where I could be considered a hero. All I ever wanted was to get to space! He didn't tell me that he'd help make me number one on the list of people that earth wanted annihilated.
