This is where it all begins. Get in at the start of the Sid Langdon Mysteries as Sid, a seasoned insurance investigator but fledgling detective, gets his first case. Sid gets his man—kind of—and, more importantly, establishes himself as a trustworthy private eye who gets results. It is Sid's contacts from this first case that will eventually lead to his next, when once again he is off and running. Meet the characters in Sid's world—his lovely next door neighbor, who welcomes him with a casserole and becomes the foil for his rambling theories; the police lieutenant, who wonders how the most unlikely characters and hopeless scenarios wind up on Sid's doorstep; and then there's Max, who surveys Sid's world from his perch beside the terrace doors, always ready with a cheerful greeting and Sid's favorite classic movies on the late show.

Tainted Legacy review by Online Book Club September 21, 2013: Tainted Legacy is centered around private investigator Sid Langdon, who has just started his own Private Investigation businesses, and a big case he gets hired to investigate. I quite enjoyed reading this book and found it very thrilling. The book follows a crime and mystery theme that keeps your mind working the whole way. This book will definitely be loved by all lovers of crime and detective stories. There is also a bit of romance in the book for all those romance lovers. The great thing about this book is that it will appeal to both male and female, young and old audiences. There are a few twists in the book that will definitely keep you on your toes. I did not expect to enjoy this book, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. The author's writing style was very good with a very good storyline. The author gives you detailed descriptions of all the characters involved, which helps you understand their roles in the book and an idea of who plays the main and important roles. The author also gives you a good sense of the characters emotions and their state of mind. The characters are well written and well suited to the book. The story keeps you captivated and interested right to the last page. The book is quite short, but the author manages to get all the needed information in those few pages. The story was easy to follow and moved fluidly from one chapter to another. I think the book is worth the read and the time spent reading those precious pages. I found the book enjoyable and would definitely recommend it. I think the book will be enjoyed by all. I am not a big fan of crime books, but I enjoyed this one as it was not to long drawn out and it got to the point quickly. I was not a big fan of the name for this book as I feel it does not really fit with the storyline. This book was for me a must read, I think quite a few people will enjoy it. I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars.

Sid Langdon, a self-doubting magnet for offbeat clients and hapless scenarios, is hired by a wealthy gentleman to investigate mysterious occurrences at his parents’ lakeside estate. He considers the incidents the work of pranksters trading on a local legend of a Confederate officer whose ghost prowls the surrounding woods. When the body of his client’s disabled father is found floating beside the boat dock, his skull fractured, possibly by the blunt edge of a sword, Sid suspects it was no accident and that his quarry is no ghost. Dogged by guilt that his initial skepticism may have contributed to the man’s death, Sid is determined to bring the killer in.

Despite rumors of its deadly curse and doubts of the stone’s very existence, Andrew Weberley risks his life and all he holds dear to search the steamy jungles of Guatemala for the fabulous sapphire known as the Nourdon Blue. After months without word from her father, Felicia Weberley hires Sid Langdon to find him. Sid attempts to track the stone, believing it will lead him to Weberley. He encounters the murky world of stolen artifacts when all leads converge on a pawn shop in Seattle’s Chinatown, and a delusional pawnbroker who trades in antiquities while financing a search for the ultimate prize—the Nourdon Blue. The Mystery of the Nourdon Blue is the story of a soul-searing and destructive obsession as it ripples through the lives of those it touches.

Amanda Brenner

Amanda Brenner is a native Midwesterner who has traveled extensively throughout the United States and now lives quietly with her husband and an assortment of wildlife visitors to their urban home.  Her interest in writing began at an early age when westerns were popular attractions at the local theater.  It seemed only natural that her first novel, Trail of Vengeance, should be in that genre.  After finishing a second western, Shadow of the Rope, she began to explore a new direction and completed three contemporary mysteries involving private investigator Sid Langdon, a self-doubting magnet for offbeat clients and hapless scenarios, the latest being The Mystery of the Nourdon Blue.  Amanda enjoys learning from the books she reads, a characteristic reflected in the research she includes in her own works. Thank you for your time.
