About this series

Henry Sarti, field engineer for Ram Magna, is perplexed by some unusual damage he finds on the magna lines south of Bridger, Montana, and he calls his old friend, Captain Bruce McDill of the RAM Magna Police Service to help him investigate. Together with two experienced Indian scouts, they camp near the magna line and in the middle of the night are witness to the crash of an unusual rail car. As the driver of that car escapes from the wreck and flees, one of Bruce's faithful wolf dogs pursues him, and before Bruce can call him back, the dog is shot, and the fugitive escapes.

A massive investigation commences, and the search for the mysterious driver leads to an abandoned bakery, where Bruce and Henry are kidnapped by henchman in the employ of the eccentric genius responsible for the wreck, who is a native of nearby Billings, Montana. The railway men are uncertain why they have been snatched, and they are taken north by secret train, where they manage to escape their captors.

Henry is sent back to the main RAM campus in Denver, where he will be safe, and Bruce is sent to Joplin, Missouri to hide out until the Magna Police Service and the FIB can find the Billings Man. Bruce is reluctant to leave his partner Britta, and fears that waiting in Missouri for the kidnapper to be captured will be tedious, but he finds himself teamed up with twin brothers who are officers of the Magna force, and together they set out to capture fugitives wanted by the local authorities.

As Bruce and the twins go about their business, they are unaware that agents of the Billings Man are looking for Bruce, and he is discovered when his picture is published in the media as he and his fellow officers are rescuing a person trapped in a collapsed building. When Bruce finally returns to Billings, he is again snatched as is Henry, who has gone back to work inspecting rail lines for damage. A chase ensues, and leads to the port of Duluth, where the Billings Man and his supporters manage to set off in a waiting ship to implement a plan to recover precious metals from a Great lakes Shipwreck. Bruce and Henry are finally informed that they have been taken so that they may be trustworthy and reliable witnesses to the events that are about to take place. They both settle in to take part in the adventure, knowing that Captain Britta Bayer and the Magna Police are not far behind them. The mission is accomplished, but the Billings Man is loath to accept imprisonment for his deeds, and takes a final step towards ensuring that his name will live in infamy.

Bruce McDill leaves a secure job at the hydro-cycle factory in Milwaukee to seek adventure on the magna lines that span the globe and are powered by magnetism. He works as a spanner tech for RAM Magna, tightening the ever-loosening knuckle nuts on the pylons along the rail line and ends up leading a crew of techs along the line in Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. The crew adopt the name "The Blue Dragons" from the coat-of-arms of Ingolstadt, a city in Bavaria that is the hometown of the only female member, Britta Bayer, who Bruce is enamored of. In his spare time Bruce travels the globe with an Indian friend named Three Dogs, who is also known as Roger Robertson, the Director of Tourism at the hot springs in Thermopolis, near the camp where the railroad workers live on the Wind River reservation. Bruce learns of the death of an old friend who also worked along the line, and he sets out to investigate. With the assistance of his workmates, he discovers that the elite Elliptical Guard, whose job is to provide security for the more advanced Elliptical Rail Service, is secretly training recruits at the abandoned nuclear facility in Hanover, Washington and he solicits the help of Shining Star, the chief of the Reservation Police at Wind River, to find out what's going on and who was involved in the death of his old friend. He and his crew, along with Three Dogs and Shining Star discover that the Guard is plotting to take over the lucrative security contract for the magna facility in Panama, a major cargo hub for RAM Magna. Bruce accepts a position in the Magna Police Force and together with Three Dogs goes to Panama to hunt down the rogue guardsmen responsible for the murder of his friend and together they bring the perpetrators to justice.

Bruce McDill made the transition from scanner tech for the RAM Magna system to an officer in the RAM Magna Police force after taking part in the investigation of the death of his old friend,Davey Ferrazo. Now he is called upon to find out what happened to a runner who has disappeared from the North Platte Yard. All signs indicate that the runner was snatched and taken aboard the Ali Khal animal train, which criss-crosses the world providing animals to zoos throughout the world. Ali assists him and his fellow investigators and the kidnapper is tracked to China, where he is captured and the runner is freed. The kidnapper turns out to be a former runner who used his knowledge of the railyards to facilitate his crime. He reveals that he intended to sell his victim to a criminal cabal to be used for labor in the mines of Midori in Kenya. The mines were believed abandonded, but have been re-opened at the behest of an outlaw known as 'The Duke' who has been running a bandit army for 40 years, since the end of the Third War. Bruce and his partner Igor are called to Kenya to meet with Kenyan officials and officers of the British Army, who have pledged to maintain a presence in Kenya until The Duke is captured and brought to justice. They are recruited to go undercover in the Dukes mining operation, and after travelling to Germany to investigate similar kidnappings they are sold to one of the Duke's agents and taken to the mines, where they wait for the Duke to show himself. When the Duke finally arrives, they are able to notify the British and Kenyan forces, and the last battle with the Duke's army takes place in the jungle north of Midori. With the 15th Kenyan Army and the British approaching from the south and Chinese forces from the north, The Duke realizes he has come to an end and throws himself into the fray. Once the Duke is eliminated, Bruce and his partner are taken to a Kenyan hospital to recover from wounds they've incurred and then travel to Poland for a ceremony commemorating the life of a prisoner from the mine who helped them escape to sound the alarm and did not survive. They later return to Kenya to receive medals from the British for their bravery, returning to their home base in Nebraska just in time for Christmas.
