The Collapse. Civilization swept away in the historical equivalent of the blink of an eye. Man reduced to little more than a parasite living off the carcass of the Old World. After twenty years, little was left for even the most diligent of scavengers to recover. Animals had vanished, replaced with creatures that had never existed on Earth. Reproduction was difficult, water supplies poisoned and the world just kept on getting warmer. As the saying went - The world was not what it was. For Nathan Smith, inveterate wanderer, his latest trip was one of desperate need. His community was on the verge of falling apart due to lack of food, water and other vital supplies. If he couldn’t find them a place worth relocating to, well, he might as well not bother going back at all. But he could not have imagined the extremes that he would find on this journey. Horror beyond his wildest nightmares and joy beyond anything he’d ever dared to hope. The post-Collapse highways offered no free rides and no easy way. It was all or nothing and Nathan was about to learn a very important lesson. On this road, there was no turning back.

Nathan Smith had done what he’d been asked to do. He had found a place where his failing community could find food, water, shelter and everything that they were currently lacking. Returning to his community with the news, however, was not quite the triumphant homecoming he had envisaged. Internal politics, petty-mindedness and the presence of those who had reason to hate him all conspired to sour his return. Others had plans for the community. Plans that didn't include him, or his friends. Nathan soon finds himself again plunged into a nightmare of violence from which he cannot escape. The only difference now is that the worst monsters he must face this time around are not at all alien in nature. They are his own kind.

The Whispers of Eris (Chronicles of the Collapse, Book 3) Albertville. It was a place that should not exist in Nathan's world. A city that should have been a small town and which showed none of the ruin and devastation prevalent elsewhere. It was a city from another world, another reality. A city full of dark secrets. For Nathan Smith and his band it was a place to plunder so that their own community, Fortuna, might survive. But setting up a supply route was not to be as easy as they thought. Nathan soon finds out that organizing a group has its own particular set of problems, of which he himself might well be one. But whilst he had been away from Albertville other forces had been at work in the city, some of which defied explanation. A chance encounter will lead Nathan down a dark path from which he might not emerge. A path upon which he will learn a valuable lesson: There were worse things than the Eyeless in Albertville.

The Hand of Erebus (Chronicles of the Collapse, Book 4) The world was unravelling. Nathan knew it now, thought there was little that he could do about it. Though he possessed technology that might be helpful someday, his understanding of it was limited and tinkering with it could have catastrophic consequences. With more immediate and pressing matters to attend to, he continues the daily struggle to survive and make something of the fledgling community that he and his friends have set up. There are others, however, that have taken note of the recent events in Albertville. Others that wish to possess the technology and knowledge that Nathan has gained. Others that will resort to any means to secure their goals. Nathan and his friends are soon plunged once more into the midst of violence and this time one thing is beyond doubt. None of them will come out of it unscathed.

    The Children of Icarus

The Children of Icarus (Chronicles of the Collapse, Book 5) For Nathan's group, things looked at their lowest. Though they had escaped the clutches of the slavers, it had not been without cost. A number of their own were dead at the slaver's hands or gone, kidnapped by Colonel Ryerson's men, including Nathan himself. Hiding in Albertville, with their compound now under the control of the Fortuna militia, the survivors rest and lick their wounds. Wounds which, alarmingly, appear to include the return of the dreaded Cough, the very cause of the Collapse itself. A disease to which several of their number have no immunity. But any respite will be short for, as always, there are forces at work in the city which they barely understand. Forces which have their own agenda for the remains of the group. And what of Nathan? Hauled away along with Jason by Ryerson's men, what has become of him? His companions mount a mission to try to find Ryerson's base and rescue the two men but, unbeknownst to them, both Nathan and Jason are far beyond their reach. Very far indeed....
