About this series

"Stay with your own Kind; you aren't welcome here!"
Hiram (Evil) Schwerin has heard that saying uttered many times but this was the first time it was directed at him. He was a trader and as far as he was concerned, he was with his own kind in Reno; it was an unfortunate accident crossing The Shells that had given him solid colored red eyes like the gendog traveling with him. If it has eyes like a Revenant then it must be a Revenant; humans couldn't be expected to behave differently in these times...

There once was a place called San Francisco but now it is called Novo Francisco and it is under control of a person completely out of his mind but with an abnormal force of will. Girard Wilson traded a death sentence in prison for a very classified experiment... over three hundred years ago. He escaped confinement just ahead of a termination order and when he began subverting and suborning humans to go with the gendogs he controlled, he referred to them the same way he did so with himself...they were The Revenant and nothing would be held above them. They were the chosen of racekind and they would eventually take over the world...

Following a failed attempt to take back what Girard stole, a truce has been in force for over one hundred years; in exchange for no armed humans in an agreed upon DMZ, the gendog hordes would stay on the Revenant side of it and the humans on their side. Despite the harsh terms, there are too many good places to live in the DMZ and the Sacrato Vigilance Committee (SVC) only keeps the law up to the DMZ border on their side. The DMZ might be gendog free but a vicious horde of motorcycle riders called The Legion run Girard's meth lab, are paid by him to harass the humans in the DMZ and gain extra jack from the rapine and plunder they commit. The more humans that brave the DMZ, the more fun The Legion can ultimately have....but human boinkers never fail to cross the line. If the DMZ was considered lawless before, it isn't now...except the judgment by AA-12 is final...

A vicious and now unpredictable joker is in the deck of cards and as he glowers at the remains of his wagon, the voices in his head only give rise to more anger. Hiram had already told Girard where he stood so why was he hearing Girard even here? He still had that crazy looking board he was given by the funny man earlier but was he expected to use it?

Evil has salvaged a lot from his wagon and his pack animal has survived its injuries (through a secondary mutation) so it is now time to find some truth amidst the lies. If weredebt isn't paid for his wagon, only Evil will be laughing when the dead are counted...

...And a Pestilence of Gods... (The Twisted Earth)

Welcome to the twisted earth that arises from the wreckage of a global war, a place where the modern exists with the anachronistic, where fiction is dogmatic fact, and where facts are often disavowed with a vengeance. The Chusann Empire is a product of the new reality versus an exception. The Chusanns strive to gain the fabled place of Hyannisport to gain the favor of thier gods It starts with a chance meeting between two couples; while the Eagleton’s are of high society, the Schwerin’s are lower class workers. They are of little consequence though in the scheme of things; it is their sons who define this tale. Both sons will eventually seek freedom from the lot they have been given in life, but divergence now occurs due to their vastly different perspectives and economic standing. Hiram Schwerin enters a hell beyond all belief as he is forced to mine the darkrock that powers the empire lands. As his life is defined by the years of age he attains, cruelty is heaped upon cruelty until even the Conductor’s whip brings him no pain. Eyes as hard and cold as can be plot only freedom from where he toils and vengeance upon his tormentors in no merciful way. Confronted with the knowledge of a plethora of religions from those established long ago to any number of modern day perversions of that concept, the belief in any God rings hollowly upon his ears, but the thought of freedom never is fully gone from his mind...it will only be a matter of time until his tormentors pay dearly for the hatred they have brewed... Eric Eagleton aspires to be one of the Hoovers, protectors of The Chusann faith and the front line against her enemies within and especially without. A Hoover’s work involves various confidence levels and the solving of dossiers. As his life is also defined by his age, he learns that what he aspires to be is nothing but hollow lies and propaganda created by the Chusann priests... The Chusann society is itself controlled by a nefarious cabal whose real motivations spell doom for The Hoovers upon its attainment. Eric is young enough to be resilient and old enough to take action, but it remains to see if he is wise enough to survive the coming war, because war there assuredly will be. While Eric can violate protocols and consort with Traders, a type of person The Chusanns ban from their demesne, all that Hiram has is some purloined books that circulate through the cages and the beatings that often come for possessing them. The truth comes at a staggering cost to both Eric and Hiram but they both reach an understanding that transcends their regimented existences. In a society plagued with a pestilence of Gods and false icons, freedom may be the only thing that has any value...provided you can survive to enjoy it...

My name is Hiram E. Schwerin and I am a trader; I travel the wastelands looking for things to sell or to trade for the things I need to survive and hopefully a little jack left over. It is at times a thankless and dangerous profession but rotting away in some settlement for what coin an employer will give you sounds much more dangerous to me. If you are interested in what I have for sale or trade, perhaps we can do business; I deal in fair coin and I don't care to a large extent who carries it. Also, if you are in need of something, I might be able to find it for you...for a price. Before you decide to cheat me or steal from me or provoke me though, you best know this. I spent ten years with a whip on my back and not even death scares me let alone you or any other vermin that travel the lands whether it is man or mutant. The same goes for your twisted ideas of religion; keep them to yourself because I have read the predark tomes of such knowledge and I find it to be hollow in its promises. I wasn't always a trader, but another such individual thought I had promise. He has been dead some years, so I carry on as best as I can in his stead using what he learned as well as what I can learn. If you are seeking me, I use my middle name though it is a sobriquet of sorts...They Call Me Evil The darkrock mines and the Chusanns are ten years behind him but though Hiram (or Evil as he is now known) may have changed in some respects, the brutality and misery of his past still colors his present. He was educated and he knew how to get the good Oltec, but his cold blue eyes were often a harsh judge of things while his weapons saw constant use. Nisee has become a settled area under aegis of common law and free trading is becoming outlawed. After yet one more violent act and a narrow escape from a rope, Evil is told to leave Nisee for good. A Tavern Tale he is told turns out to be the truth, but bad will always balance the good and when he has a newly found wagon, a new (but very strange) canine companion and a large load of scavenged Oltec, the bad will be exceptional. It starts when a woman flees through his camp followed by a confrontation with her pursuers and degenerates from there. Evil finds a place to trade and sell what he has found but a war is in the making. The people of New Coventry are clueless about the gathering storm, the cultural hatred and economics of the place is as twisted and virulent as could be and in a place called Churchtown, a religious leader's sociopathic greed knows no bounds as he plots revenge. While waging economic war against a town is one thing, picking a fight with a trader is another thing entirely. The matter won't be settled until the last man is left standing, but that will be time enough for many to die....

There are some who call a journey over the Shells a dead man's walk while there are others who say nothing is alive on the other side...unfortunately they are wrong on both counts... To its bitter end, the Groom Lake/Area 51 complex has held its secrets from prying eyes...until now.. Though Evil has survived the predations of the cVc, travelling the wastelands no longer involves just him and a burwar. A gendog trails at his heel and he has a woman by his side. Many of his paradigms have had to be rebuilt but Evil's dynamic mindset serves him well in this present day. When the airport Jheriam had used to travel here is found to be overrun with mutant filth, there is only one path that can be taken so that Jheriam can make it home. While crossing the Shells is basically only a physical act, what awaits on the other side is anyone's guess. Though Evil and those with him survive the crossing, the aftermath results in even more change. Life and settlements do exist on the other side of the Shells but things there are even more disruptive and disturbing than back east. In between the realization that human beings were responsible for a lot of the mutant filth walking the land and a former gambling mecca that has become a lawless armed encampment, the desert turns out to be a welcome place despite the warnings on the signs. The status quo out west is neither 'excellent' or suitable regarding the main entities involved in the region. Novo Angeles has risen from the ruins of Los Angeles but while that is proof that human beings can't be kept down, all is not well regarding the new settlement and its suburbs. In return for being alloted power from its reactors, the outlying areas around Novo Angeles are drafted to protect the borders from mutant incursions, perform other chores that are equally as dangerous and submit to the authority of the Eugenics Control Board. Though a revolt some years earlier was quashed, the suburb of Yobros has a more cohesive plan this time thanks to the one now in charge of things but neither side is prepared for what comes wandering in from the desert wastes. Novo Angeles and Yobros are both living in a pipe dream; while Novo Angeles stands firm by its virulant cultural (and esepcially mutant) intolerance, the Yobrians are hard at work tearing at what they perceive to be the status quo while calling any sort of violence backed assertiveness 'bogus'. Traders normally stay clear of situations like this but Evil's treatment by Novo Angeles motivates him to take sides as not only an instigator this time but also as an investor. In the midst of Novo Angelen business attire and Yobrian sk8r fashion, a heavy steel toed boot covered in dirt and filth will shake their paradigm to its core with no guarantee of anything remaining...

Life is essentially what you make of it and I have found writing fiction is not only challenging, it can be a lot of fun (and a lot of work!) I write in an adult vein and I am neither worried about sacred cows nor do I shy away from the dark side of homo sapiens. I have worn a lot of hats over the years and I like to think each new experience has something to teach as you grow and flourish from the input. I currently live in NW Ohio.
