About this series
Section 5 or The Shadow Boys as our enemies call them are Canada's anti-terrorism unit. There are 13 of them in total and they operate in teams of four, 3 men and 1 woman per team. They operate off the books and with one objective -get the job done. How is unimportant, keeping Canada and its citizens safe is all that matters. Their methods may be unorthodox and civil, charter and even human rights may be ignored - but fire has to be fought with fire. These teams do what is necessary, not what is politically correct. Several exploits are described, all of them fictional, but such things can and do happen in today's world. In the final task the team foils a plot to start WW111

Section Five is a secret department of the Canadian government who report directly to the Defense Minister or Prime Minister. They are effectively ghosts and do not exist. Foreign governments and spy agencies suspect they exist, but have never been able to establish any evidence of it. They are simply tasked with getting the job done, whatever that job might be. How they complete the task is up to them. Laws of the land mean nothing to them - only positive results. They must keep Canada and its citizens safe from harm from any quarter. If they suspect such an act is imminent they will act to thwart it. Waiting until such an act is committed before taking the appropriate response is not how these people operate. If a person is seen as a perceived threat to Canada or its population they will be dealt with. How is an altogether different subject. Innocence until proven guilty is a civilian mandate that the Canadian Courts operate under. Section Five has no such constraints. If you pose a threat you will be dealt with.Subsequently in many cases, your very existence may be difficult to substantiate - certainly if you run afoul of these patriots and threatening harm to those they are protecting.

John Cannon was a wreck when he lost his wife, Pam, to breast cancer. He was an ex-special forces officer, a man of action and purpose, but Pam's unexpected death had changed him. His friends saw it and set about getting him back on track. They knew he had always wanted to travel across Canada by train and so they now encouraged him to take that trip he so wanted to take. The people he met on that train and the stories they shared with him would be forever imprinted in his brain. They were filled with hope, love, joy and compassion and ignited in John his sense of purpose once more. He may have lost Pam in person, but certainly not in spirit He felt her presence daily and just knew she was looking down on him like a guardian angel. He could feel her guiding him and he just knew she wanted him to move on and be happy. He was certainly not looking for romance when he boarded that train, but he did meet a girl because of it. Over time he became enamored of her and felt that Pam would approve of her. He later came to believe, that not only did she approve of her she had orchestrated the whole thing right from the start. She had been his angel and she wanted nothing less for John now when she could no longer be there for him. That's why she chose her for him as her replacement angel..
