About this series
The story you are about to read is a ‘historical fantasy’. It tells of an ancient, medieval type society in the far off land of Oma-Var and how the use of the phenomenon we know as ‘gunpowder’ changed their world --- but it is much more than that.
As every good tale should be, it is also a story about people. Good ones, bad ones --- and like most of us, the in-between ones.
And lastly, as all good tales must be, it is a story about love. That age old emotion that has thrilled, captivated and haunted us down through the ages --- ‘love’, in all its many forms, flavours and ever changing faces.
The young kind with its quick beating heart; butterflies in the stomach and its anxious, glorious anticipation!
The older, more mature kind that slowly tempers the mercurial passions of youth and grows deeper and sweeter with the passing years.
And lastly the dark, twisted kind. Born not out of caring, sacrifice and compassion but out of lust, jealousy and ownership.
These forms and others are represented in this tale, waiting only for the powder keg of emotions to be set ablaze by the strike of a firelock or the flash of a haughty look.

- Shard
In the style of Tolkien and Martin with a dash of King, W. Wm. Mee has crafted an epic quest around a cursed sword. Various races of the land known as Oma-Var become entangled in the many schemes and plots to find, capture and use Shard, the evil sword forged long ago by a malignant force that seeks to enslave all. 'Shard' is the story of the magical sword that could not be broken; of a people that could not exist and of a deed that could not be done. Join the quest for Shard in this the first book of the trilogy: ‘The Task’ --- that is, if you dare! 'Beneath the stars, beneath the moon, Beneath the heat of the sun. No rest, no peace, no hearth nor home, Till the Swordbearer's task be done.'
- Shard II 'The Isles of Rill'
Erin Ap Conn was a bastard in every possible meaning of the word. He was the unfortunate 'result' of a number of drunken weaponsmen raping a young Rill maiden; he was the fatherless outcast living between two races that despised him as well as each other; and he was the wild, unruly lad who, in a impromptu drunken duel, had slain the son of a very rich and important man. He was an outcast, exile and condemned 'murderer' who, for the last ten long years, had sold both his sword and his soul to the highest bidder. That hard, dangerous decade had made him quick, cold and cruel. He was also a bastard because most of the time he was a mean, hedonistic, outspoken, womanizing, self-centered son-of-a-bitch! It was Thorn that had saved him. Saved him from the Slath slavers in the river, from the men sent to hunt him down and, the hardest save of all, from himself. Over the long years of his exile, Erin Ap Conn had become a very angry, very bitter and very competent killer --- often killing a part of himself as well. In SHARD I ‘The Task’, Erin helped the Kirkwean stop the Slathland invasion. He also destroyed the 'body' of the High Gnash --- but, unfortunately, not the evil 'spirit' that dwelt within. In SHARD II, ‘The Isles of Rill’, Lucfelian is once again a disembodied 'feka', and has fled, like a dark stain on the wind, eastward to Erin’s homeland, the distant Isle of Loamin, the largest of the Rill Isles. The Shadow Lord is seeking revenge, not only against the tall weaponsman who had foiled his grand plans, but against all of Erin's kith and kin that live on the far off Isles of Rill. Thorn, Erin and a collection of friends follow as fast as they can, bringing Shard, the cursed with them, and a desire to finally end it all one way or another.
- Skara Brae 'The Faery Mound'
‘Come away, Human child; to the water and the wild.’ is just a silly nursery rhyme to young Skara Brae of Craigmorrow Castle. But when she follows an old crone into one of the ‘faery mounds’ near Craigmorrow, she steps into the world of Oma-Var, where myth and magic are real, and legends spring to life --- and her ‘special powers’ are needed! Skinny little Skara Brae McDuff of Craigmorrow Castle emerges from the ‘faery mound’ much changed from when she went in a few moments before. Several years older, she is now a beautiful young woman, and though her memory is foggy, she finds that she has both friends and foes here in Oma-Var. She also discovers that she has skills she didn’t have back in Craigmorrow. She can wield both a sword and a ‘wicca’ staff, and she can also capture men’s hearts --- three skills she will need if she is to survive here in this land of legend.
- Druin Hoyt & the Duke's Daughter
Oma-Var, the land of magic, mystery and living legends. A land of great kings, wise queens and fierce warriors. But now the Fourth Age has arrived, the age of gunpowder! Swords and shields are augmented by wheelock pistols and brass cannon; chainmail and steel helmets have given way to silk uniforms and gold braid and the iron clad knight has become a poet-soldier. Wars, however still rage through the land and are bloodier than ever. Captain Druin Hoyt and his ‘Company of Gentlemen’ are hired to rescue the beautiful Phillipa Harkon, the Duke’s daughter; a simple enough task for Hoyt and his mercenaries --- but then things go amiss, as things so often do and the road back to ‘daddy’ becomes a very dangerous one.
- The Warrior & The Halfenwraith
Over a thousand years ago brave men and women sailed the Whales Road in search of new land, fame and fortune. The Norse were the leaders in this outward expansion. They took their families, their culture, their stories and their gods with them. This is the story of how Swanhild, a beautiful a Halfenwraith (half god & half human) went in search of a hero to marry.

- Hengal & Isole
Romance, adventure, love, betrayal, war and revenge --- all the ingredients needed for a rousing good tale! Come along with the two star-crossed lovers, Hengal and Isole, as they leave their warring families behind and run away together to the mysterious, war-torn Isle of Ecoss --- hotly followed of course by enemies of all kinds.
