Welcome to the top women’s rugby news in under 60 seconds for Nov 14-20. We learned the winners of the World Rugby Awards and we look ahead to the first stop of the HSBC 7s Series in Dubai kicking off next week.
New Zealand swept the World Rugby Awards with Ruahei Demant winning the XVs player of the year, Wayne Smith as coach of the year, Ruby Tui as XVs breakthrough player of the year and Dr. Farah Palmer with the Vernon Pugh Award for Distinguished Service. But that’s not it, they also have 4 players on the XVs Dream Team of the year!
Charlotte Caslick picked up the 7s player of the year and Abby Dow won the International try of the year.
In 7s news, the HSBC 7s return next week in Dubai with Australia, USA, Canada and China in pool A, France, New Zealand, Great Britain and Brazil in pool B and Fiji, Ireland, Spain and Japan in pool C.
In XVs news, the Energia AIL semi-finals are next week, the 2023 Aupiki squads have been announced and we recap USA’s College playoffs including NIRA, CRAA and NCR.
