Description
It's been a bit of a mixed bag for John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats through the first eight games of the season. What's to like, and what's not to like?On today's episode of Locked On Kentucky, Lance Dawe gives two things he's liked and two things he hasn't liked about Kentucky basketball's start to the season. Cason Wallace has definitely been a bright spot for the Wildcats. He's done everything - score, rebound, defend, and facilitate. His shooting efficiency (not just the raw numbers) has been a major positive. Ugonna Onyenso's impact in his limited time on the floor has been impressive - especially for a kid who's supposed to still be in high school. Onyenso has not gotten the chance to really make an impact in Kentucky's three biggest games this year, but what he did in the action he saw against Michigan should not go unnoticed. What should also not go unnoticed are the negatives. The offensive structure needs more direction. John Calipari is what he is offensively at this point in his career, and if UK does not have a ton of fresh ideas for late-game situations now, there's little hope that major adjustments will be made during the season. That's not to say it's all bad - things worked out well against Michigan - but there's some legitimate frustration with how the offense is run... particularly under Sahvir Wheeler.Lance takes a look into the numbers and explains why maybe giving Cason Wallace some more minutes as the point guard could be a good thing for the Wildcats. Finally, Dawe asks a question for the audience: Who is the biggest surprise of the early season thus far? Is it Onyenso? Wallace? Or maybe Antonio Reeves, who currently leads the team in scoring?Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!LinkedInLinkedIn jobs helps you find the candidates you want to talk to, faster.
