This event, famously known as "the Miracle on the Hudson," was triggered by a bird strike that incapacitated the aircraft. In the eyes of a National Transportation Safety Board official, it was hailed as "the most successful ditching in aviation history." The crash-landing involved 155 occupants, including 5 crew members, all of whom miraculously survived, despite the cold, swift waters.
