Murder of Police Officer Garrett Hull and the Group that Helps After. The tragic murder and loss of his former teammate and close friend, Officer Garrett Hull. Police Officer Hull was fatally shot on September 14, 2018, while bravely attempting to apprehend three serial robbers.
Police Detective Mitchell Ellis joins John Jay Wiley, he is a detective with the Fort Worth Texas Police Department reflects on Garrett Hull. Describing Hull as not only a colleague but also a brother, Detective Ellis recounts the profound impact of Hull's murder on himself, their department, Hull's family, and the entire community of Fort Worth. He emphasizes Hull's exceptional qualities as a dedicated police officer, father, husband, and friend.
Officer Hull, with 17 years of service in the FWPD, had served in various specialized units, demonstrating his commitment to protecting the community. Outside of his police work, he was known as an avid outdoorsman and a loving family man survived by his wife Sabrina and their two daughters. The fatal incident occurred when Hull and his undercover unit confronted the robbers after they targeted a local bar. In the ensuing confrontation, Hull was tragically shot and killed by one of the suspects.
The perpetrators, Timothy Huff and another accomplice, were apprehended and faced charges related to Hull's murder. Huff was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Murder of Police Officer Garrett Hull and the Group that Helps After.
During the trial, Sabrina Hull emotionally recounted her last conversation with her husband, where he expressed the danger of the situation they were facing. Another colleague, Dallas Connor, testified to Hull's unwavering determination and dedication to his duty as a law enforcement officer.
In the aftermath of this devastating loss, Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) provided essential support to Hull's family and fellow officers. Through their hands-on programs and retreats, C.O.P.S. offers a safe space for survivors to grieve and process their emotions, recognizing the profound impact of a line-of-duty death on all those affected. Every guest knows about and is informed of the length of the segments and that I will interrupt them if needed to go to the break. The interviews are recorded and the guests know that the segments must be in a certain length and it is required and they get to tell their stories to millions of people for free.
