Description
When Bobby Jones the legendary golfer was in a position on the final hole to win his first major tournament he faced a very challenging shot over water if he could make a birdie he would win. However, to make birdie would require him not to lay up, but to reach the green in two. Whilst pondering what to do he caught the eye of his club professional a Scotsman called Stuart Maiden, it is recorded that Stuart looked at Bobby Jones and simply said “Take dead aim”. This week we look at the importance of purpose as a tool in your bag. Too many golfers are indecisive, lack commitment to a given shot, or simply hit and hope, none of which are strategies. Over the past five weeks, I have undertaken a long-distance hike that was very challenging but helped me reconnect to the importance of purpose and passion. P.S. Bobby Jones indeed took dead aim and held the green then two-putted for a birdie to win his first major.A Birkhall Media Production
