Here’s five tips to help you get invited to speak:  1. Volunteer at conferences. Find the conferences you think you might like to speak at in the future and show up to help. You never know what could happen. 2. Become an expert. Find a niche in your field and become an expert. What have you done in your career that is unique? 3. Plan ahead. Most conferences are planned out a year in advance. Don’t wait until the last minute to reach out. (And always be ready for last-minute changes!) 4. You don’t need an agent. Don’t feel like you need an agent to get invitations. They may be able to negotiate a deal but may not be the one to get you the job as a speaker. 5. Take the time to become a great speaker. Being an expert does not necessarily mean you’ll be a great speaker. If you’re incorporating software like Powerpoint or Keynote, learn to speak well first; then bring the Powerpoint into it.
